Potential Applications of CE-2 Microwave Radiometer Data in Understanding Basaltic Volcanism in Heavily Ejecta-Contaminated Mare Frigoris

Mare Frigoris is the fifth largest and almost northernmost mare located on near side of Moon. has an elongated shape, with a length approximately 1500 km width 200 km, which makes it susceptible to becoming contaminated by impact ejecta from nearby highlands. Comparatively speaking, microwave radiometer (MRM) data have good penetration capabilities. Therefore, MRM Chang’e-2 satellite were employed study volumetric thermal emission features basaltic deposits in Frigoris. Combining units FeO TiO2 abundances identified using small crater rim probing (SCREP) methodology gravity Gravity Recovery Interior Laboratory (GRAIL), four potential conclusions that obtained are as follows: (1) The strongly related (FeO + TiO2) abundance pristine basalts less influenced contamination; (2) every quadrant Frigoris, basalt decreases increase age; (3) at least main influencing factor regarding brightness temperature remains surface deposits; (4) warm anomaly was revealed western-central eastern-central areas strong relationship positive Bouguer derived GRAIL terms spatial distribution. results significant context improving our understanding igneous rock evolution Moon data.
